Digital revolution in the optometry industry
Bezokularow.pl SA is a Polish company engaged in the sale and promotion of lenses and glasses online, which includes the wOkularach.pl portal, offering a wide range of branded products specially developed for the company, so-called “private labels”.
It is worth mentioning that as part of its digital customer service, the portal offers innovative technological tools such as the “Virtual Fitting Room”. The tool serves as a kind of virtual mirror where the customer can see if a particular eyewear model looks good on their face. With calibration, they can verify if the shape or size of the glasses is right for them.
The market for sunglasses, corrective glasses and eyeglass lenses is now worth nearly PLN 4 billion today – 10 times more than the contact lenses market. Glasses are worn by up to 20 million Poles, and buying online can be an advantageous alternative to visiting an optician’s store.
Digital Expansion – a solution to a volatile market environment
Bezokularow.pl SA’s development strategy is fully focused on the online market through the development of its own online store, decisively breaking away from the traditional concept of building an offline store chain.
The project was started by another supplier, but due to its scale and level of sophistication, Bezokularow.pl SA decided to transfer it to e-point. This is how we became the company’s partner in the digital expansion process.
"Selling online is our natural environment and gives us an effective advantage over other participants in the optical industry, which is facing rising labor costs, an oversaturated market of specialists and fewer trading days. Let’s add the growing demand for e-commerce available on both desktop and mobileSprzedaż w internecie jest naszym naturalnym środowiskiem i daje nam skuteczną przewagę nad innymi uczestnikami branży optycznej, która mierzy się z rosnącymi kosztami pracy, wysyconym rynkiem specjalistów i mniejszą liczbą dni handlowych. Do tego dochodzi rosnące zapotrzebowanie na e-commerce dostępny zarówno w wersji desktopowej jak i mobilnej".
Challenge
Due to the needs of the customers of the online optical store and the business model adopted by the company, the biggest challenge in the project was to ensure the smooth operation of the store on various platforms – both desktop and mobile versions, in order to provide fast and professional sales and after-sales support.
To this end, we conducted a UX/Speed Performance audit of the mobile store before the work began, based on Core Web Vitals (a Google metric that influences store positioning).
Google’s research shows that delays due to online store coding errors and faulty loading mechanisms for graphical and informational elements make customers abandon their purchases in seconds in favor of more efficient platforms.
The results of the analysis became the basis for our decision to build the application in the technology developed by Google – TWA (Trusted Web Activities), along with applying solutions and mechanisms in the code that provide the highest level of digital experience for the customer visiting the mobile store.
Parallel to the mobile application project, it was also important to carry out the maintenance and development work on the online store, wOkularach.pl, built on the Magento 2 platform, along with Akeneo (PIM), a product management system.

How did we work together?
The work was conducted in the agile methodology. We established a list of tasks to be completed on an ongoing basis, resolved technical issues and proactively advised in the context of work planning and prioritization.
A service team consisting of experienced FED and BED developers supported by DEVOPS was created for tasks related to the day-to-day operation of the online store and the implementation of planned development work.
Project implementation
Due to the characteristics of the project, the various steps were carried out independently by the e-point team or in cooperation with the client.
Outcomes
The use of Magento 2 + Akeneo (PIM) has raised the level of customer service, and the implementation of TWA technology has allowed the smooth operation of the wOkularach.pl online store, as evidenced by the numbers:
Increase from 32% to 66% of the Speed Performance indicator, which affects the overall performance indicators of the mobile store, so-called Web Core Vitals.
Explore the possibilities of TWA technology and UX/UI optimization that can revolutionize your customers’ experience.
